Would Shedeur Sanders want to play for Giants? ‘It’s up to the staff, up to the coaches’

Shedeur Sanders — who could very well be the Giants’ quarterback in 2025 — has weighed in on the latest quarterback drama in East Rutherford.
During the “Legendary Lineup” segment on the latest episode of his podcast “2Legendary” — where Sanders reads and reacts to the top stories across sports — the Colorado quarterback read the headline, “The New York Giants bench Daniel Jones after being 2-8.”

His co-host of the week, Colorado wide receiver Drelon Miller, offered a quick (and coy) response: “Honestly I feel like they’ve just got to take a second to regroup and, you know, hopefully get something good out of the draft…”
A huge grin then stretched across Sanders’ face.
“What you doing that for, now?” Sanders said. “What you what you doing that for?”
“I mean, Malik Nabers was my favorite receiver playing college football last year,” Miller responded. “I wouldn’t mind if I see y’all two on the team together. I’ll be actually very happy.”
Sanders, still smiling throughout, then offered a long and winding, “no comment.”
“Come on man, he being Federal out here, I don’t know,” Sanders said. “But nah, I think it’s up to the staff, up to the coaches at that point, I don’t know. No comment — that’s just a safe route for me, just no comment. I can’t even turn water to wine right now. I can’t do anything, so just no comment.
“But I would never pray on anybody’s downfall. I would never do that. I would never do that. And I would never play on no team’s downfall, players’ downfall, anything because I won’t want anybody to do that to me. So that’s why I just just don’t have a comment.”
So, yeah, not exactly a lot of substance there — but Sanders’ smile when the Giants were mentioned said plenty (plus he didn’t deny his interest).
The segment comes just days after the Giants (obviously) made Jones the third-string QB behind new starter Tommy DeVito and backup Drew Lock. This move basically guarantees that they’ll draft Jones’ replacement at the 2025 NFL Draft in April.
That quarterback might be Sanders — who is talented no doubt, but also comes with his fair share of baggage.
The No. 16 Colorado Buffaloes are a great story in college football this season, and Sanders has been the motor that has lifted them into the Playoff discussion, but he also quit on his team during a loss earlier this season — which, among other incidents, has led to serious leadership concerns.
There’s also the fact that whichever team selects Sanders also has to deal with his father, Deion — who might not let certain teams take his son in the first place, à la Eli Manning.
Let’s see how it all plays out as the college football season winds down.
